Amelia graduates from preschool

San Diego, part 2

A few more pictures from our time in San Diego, at the end of April. 

Visiting the Star of India and other ships at the San Diego Maritime Museum - we had to leave after the submarine, because we spotted some pirates that made Amelia and Antoine fee uneasy...

But a hot chocolate really helped!

For most of our time down in San Diego, Melissa was at a conference while Luc and the kids played. We did go visit her once or twice, and found this cool slanted elevator at the conference center!

On another day, we went to Old Town and made some new friends...

... and Amelia never hesitated when they asked for volunteers for an impromptu dance competition! She got a free root beer float for showing her best moves in front of a large crowd (during the intermission of a Mexican traditional dancing competition).

It was hot, so we spend a lot of time in the hotel pool...

We celebrated the end of Melissa's conference with an amazing ice cream sandwich (2 homemade cookies and a scoop of ice cream - yum! Antoine and Amelia love Pacific Beach too now!!!)

Then spent a couple of days in La Jolla, playing on the beach near Scripps.

We spent a great week in San Diego. Bit Amelia got covered in seaweed at the beach!

And Antoine slept through the modern art exhibit. 

But maybe that was better. Amelia was intrigued but dismayed.

Diamond Head Crater hike

Today Amelia, Antoine and Melissa hiked to the top of the crater. It is just 1.6 miles RT with 600 ft elevation gain. But there are some twisty trails cut in rock and a tunnel complete with spiral staircase. The hike is really crowded. 

Amelia did an impressive job doing it all by herself. I had to ask her to slow down a bit to walk with me. The best view pictures are on the other camera but here we are half way up!

We are in Waikiki for a week while Luc is at a conference. Amelia Antoine and I are playing in the sun.

Contrasts. Snow in Seattle

Luc is in Sri Lanka where it is hot and humid. Meanwhile back in Seattle. We got snow! Beautiful, magical, and fun snow. 

We went to the park to play. Good thing Marie is here to sled with Amelia. Antoine and I slipped away for his morning nap.
