Weekend in Vancouver

We just had a fabulous weekend in Vancouver! It has been one year since Melissa moved to Seattle, and we finally made it to BC. We took Friday off (it was Luc's birthday) and drove up to Vancouver. Clouds rolled in as we were heading north, but that didn't tamper our spirit. We stayed for 2 nights in a cute little B&B in the West Side called The Corkscrew Inn. Very cute... with fun stain glass windows and even a little corkscrew (!) museum.

It was a wonderful relaxing weekend. We took long walks on Kitsilano Beach (pictured above), went to the VanDusen Botanical Garden where we got a few good ideas for our yard, and ... wait for it ... went to see a curling match!!!

It tuned out that the World Junior Curling Championship was going on at the new olympic center last weekend. We saw the semi-finals saturday night (women: Canada vs Switzerland; men: Denmark vs US). Melissa had never seen curling... It was very enternaining. The new building are nice... although not quite finished.

The end of the games were a little confusing... I need to brush up on the rules. Anyway, the Canadian girls won that night, but eventually lost to Scotland, and the boys from Denmark won the game we saw, and went on to become the junior world champions the next day.

We spent our sunday morning at the market at Granville Island. It started to snow during lunch, but stopped as soon as we left the city and the sun even came out for the drive back. All and all, a fantastic weekend! It's fun to get away.
